Preventive pediatric dental program.

Eligibility:

  1. Henderson County resident
  2. Age 0-5 with high risk of dental decay 
  3. Preschool children are targeted to receive dental education and treatment through the following channels:
  4. Childcare centers/homes,
  5. medical clinics, and dental offices.
  6. Children 2-5 years old receive education about dental health from the use of Tooth Time, a curriculum used by teachers in the childcare setting.
  7. Children 6-42 months participate in a fluoride varnish program through the WIC Nutrition Program at the health department.
  8. Fluoride varnish is applied every 6 months to prevent dental decay in high-risk children. 
  9. Children 2 1/2 -5 years old are offered dental screenings at childcare centers and homes. 
  10. Children requiring treatment are referred to local dentists.
  11. Some children may receive treatment at no cost to the parents.
  12. The staff dental hygienist trains teachers in using Tooth Time, conducts the dental screenings, and coordinates all other areas of the program.
  13. The Preventative Dental Program is supported by funding through.

Mondays through Fridays 8am - 4:30pm. Please call for more information.
